Visitors flocked to Babington Plaza to take part in a festive day of fun.
Streatham Christmas lights were switched on in style on Saturday 7th December. Two 20ft Christmas trees and a 30ft tree at the Common, funded by the businesses of Streatham, stood tall throughout December helping Streatham to sparkle and shine this Christmastime.
This year’s Lights On event was enhanced once again by live entertainment, Santa’s Grotto, our festive market and celebrity guest Lianne La Havas!
The event reliably brings in a record number of people to the area, bringing with them huge economic benefits for the businesses that operate here. With the Christmas market in full swing, visitors were able to get hot food, refreshments and Christmas gifts. The atmosphere throughout the day was festive with great talents and performances on stage throughout the day. Hundreds of families gathered for the big moment where Lianne La Havas turned on our Christmas lights and tree.
We also gifted hampers to Lifelong Family links and the Streatham Drop-in centre with support from First Mile and Primoserve.
Every year, we organise this family event plus install 85 Christmas lights along the High Road and we are pleased with the increasing number of attendees!
