Cargo Bike scheme transitions to paid service

Last year, we secured funding from Transport for London and Cross River Partnership to trial our shared Cargo Bike scheme to demonstrate the benefits that carbon neutral deliveries could have for our community and the air quality of the area.

Unfortunately the funding has now come to an end but we wanted to continue the scheme as it’s been such a useful tool for our members. Therefore we have transitioned into a paid scheme.

InStreatham and our partners felt it was important to pay the London Living Wage to the rider so as a result, for the month of August we will transition to a subsidised scheme covered by both InStreatham and the individual businesses.

Subsequently any hours booked from September will be invoiced at the full rate which will be paid directly to the rider.

“The project has done so much more. It has been a way of connecting businesses to their customers, building relationships and creating a sustainable method for both business to business and business to consumer sales.” Louise, BID Manager.

We’d like to thank all businesses signed onto the scheme for being the pioneers of this exciting project for Streatham. Of course if you wish to use the bike yourself we can offer FREE training to either you or a staff member who can then book the bike via the app and do your own deliveries clicking and collecting from Balfe’s Bikes completely free of charge.
