The 16th annual Streatham Festival took place this year on July 1st 2017 – July 9th 2017. The festival was jam packed with live music, world-class art and lots of fun for little ones. As the theme of the year was Celebrating Streatham, it was only right to revel in all of the fantastic things that Streatham has to offer.
The festival explored every aspect of life in our local community, from its green spaces to hidden buildings, local artists, theatre, comedy, music and events. A range of exhibitions were showcased this year from school art to professional artists, including Painter Jiro Osuga, whose work was displayed at the historic Horse and Groom. Comedy nights at some of Streatham’s’ favourite local venues including the Hideaway, along with the famous Streatham Strut on Saturday night, made this year’s festival one to remember. There were a large amount of live music events at #StreatFest17 which saw the debut of Rookfest at the Rookery.
The festival ended on a high with the Festival Fun Day which comprised of music performances from the arts charity Raw Material, the musical stylings of a local Glee Club and beats of local young DJs with Grooveschool.
