Christmas in Streatham 2022

The Christmas countdown has begun and we’ve prepared another packed festive programme to create a wealth of additional reasons to visit Streatham over the Christmas period.

December, we hope, will be a busy time for our businesses with Christmas shopping so hopefully we will see an increase in footfall this month. We’ve taken care of the magic – Streatham streets have been adorned with Christmas lights, three sparkling real Christmas trees and the return of our lights display in the central shopping district to add a touch of magic to the atmosphere.

Kickstarting the festive season in Streatham, our popular Christmas Lights Switch On and market takes place this Small Business Saturday, December 3rd! The market will begin at 11am with a selection of unique retailers and delicious food plus fantastic performances from a variety of talented local talents including Christmas carols from Woodmansterne school, a dance performance by Whizz Dance, fun Boxing demo by local gym Fitness Republik and live Christmas songs by ‘Funk & Tingz’.

Throughout the day families can enjoy the magical experience created by our Elf Car which allows children to video call Santa and post letters via the magical postbox.

We’ve published and distributed copies of our Christmas magazine to residents, our guide to all the exciting things happening in our much-loved area, from wonderful gift ideas from our retail offerings plus the best festive dining spots.

We are very excited to bring back the present lights display for a second year, as part of our bumper programme of festive fun.

Starting today, the festive trail invites families to locate 16 hidden snow globes around Streatham shop windows, in order to win a prize. Similar to our previous trails, families walk all along the high road from Streatham Hill all the way through to the Common, the whole family will love getting involved in the trail and will discover some interesting facts about Streatham along the way.

These free family friendly festive experiences are aimed at enticing visitors and encouraging everyone to support, shop, gift and celebrate local. The festive trail helps increase footfall and movement around the high road, encouraging the public to visit more local businesses.

Previous trails have increased footfall and sales with an estimated 150 families discovering shops and cafes they wouldn’t usually visit. We are confident that these projects will support local businesses by attracting lots of excited visitors, something which continues to be a top priority for us.
