Could you sponsor the Streatham Youth and Community Trust’s new project?

The Streatham Youth and Community Trust are looking for sponsors on a new project for children, young people and families from the LGBTQ+ community.

They hope to start the project after Easter once a week for 2 hours per week, from Wellfield Road and want to move quickly because of an identified need within the youth club.

The project will have six key work strands, which could be health (mental & physical health), relationships (family, friends, romantic), history, culture, identity, celebration. Each strand will have activities linked to outcomes and impact measurement.

They would like to get some branding and marketing materials produced, and youth club members are helping with designing this.

They hope to have a launch event over the Easter holidays so will need to have the project leaflets ready to hand out and promote via local schools before they break up. The leaflets won’t reveal the location of the project to help young people feel safe when they join and protect confidentiality. Young people, parents and professionals will be advised of the location once they make an enquiry.

The ask:

  • Sponsor for the leaflets. They will be distributed via Dunraven and Bishop Thomas Grant schools, through social services early help team, local public venues such as supermarkets, sports club etc and social media. £1,000
  • Sponsor for the launch event either a cash donation £1000 or provide the 1) food for 70 people 2) a musician, singer, poet or other performer 3) an inspirational speaker who has a story of success despite adversity
  • Sponsor for the first 12 weeks £2,500
  • Sponsor for the first 12 months £10,000

During the first 12 months as well as a weekly youth club session they will be further developing the project as we learn what the real needs are. Year 2 of the project is likely to require a full time worker, plus funding so we can take part in London pride, 1-2-1 mentoring, counselling, mediation and family support, activities around history, culture and celebration.
