Cuppa with a Copper

As part of Lambeth’s and the Metropolitan Police’ strategy to working better with the community to target crime and anti-social behaviour (ASB), this year they introduced ‘A cuppa with a copper’sessions for people to drop in and discuss any concerns they have in their respective communities. These are informal sessions designed for any members of the community to speak to local police officers face to face to report ASB, raise local concerns and enjoy a cuppa in a relaxed environment.
Metropolitan Police Inspector Teresa Hubbard explains how her team works with Lambeth Council to make effective use of community knowledge: “People worry about robbery and burglary but also about noise, anti-social behaviour, and abandoned vehicles – things that impact on day-to-day quality of life. That’s why a multi-handed problem-solving approach works best. Policing isn’t all about arrests. For example, when we say we’re ‘enforcing’ action on rough sleeping, we often mean we’re referring people to the Safer Streets team for help.”Here are the upcoming Cuppa with a Copper times and venues for Streatham in September and October.
This is a great chance for members of the business community to speak to our local police face to face.
