InStreatham BID awarded grant for redesign of Streatham Green

The Streatham GreenInStreatham BID is excited to announce the launch of an ambitious project to redesign Streatham Green, funded by the UK Shared Prosperity Fund. This transformative initiative aims to create a safer, more accessible, and event friendly community space that will serve as a vibrant hub for local residents and visitors alike.

Streatham Green has long been a welcome respite from the bustling High Road. However, we recognise that the park isn’t functioning to its full potential.

The redesign of Streatham Green will focus on reducing antisocial behaviour, and making the space more welcoming and accessible for families, young people, and wheelchair users. The ambitious plan includes comprehensive community engagement to ensure the final design reflects the needs and aspirations of those who use the space daily or those who would like to.

“We are thrilled to embark on this journey to transform Streatham Green. This project is a significant step towards enhancing our community space, making it more inclusive. We look forward to working closely with the residents of Streatham to bring this vision to life.”

Join us on this exciting journey

InStreatham BID is calling on local people and businesses to get involved in the consultation process. Opportunities for community engagement include:

  • Streatham Food Festival June 22nd: A chance to share ideas and feedback directly with the project team.
  • Stakeholder Consultation Meetings: Sessions designed to gather detailed input from key community members.
  • Workshops: Interactive events throughout June and July to shape the design of the park reimagined.

Your input and support will be invaluable as we work together to create a renewed heart for Streatham High Road.

In the past, InStreatham have introduced various actions such as additional seating in the park to bolster support for small local eateries, colourful vinyls for the benches, bunting and playful floor vinyls like hopscotch and snakes and ladders that provided entertainment for children. Lamp columns were dressed with floral displays, complemented by butterflies nestled among the trees. Posters were even added to the bins to remind people to dispose of their gum properly as a littering intervention.

We’re hoping the new park redesign will bring about lasting positive changes, turning the green into a welcoming hub for all to enjoy.

Stay tuned for more updates!
