The Changing Face of Streatham

Our beloved Streatham’s makeover is already under way, with the commencement of the thirteen-week hot jet washing programme last Sunday (23/03/2014). The programme seeks to scrub down pavements and pedestrianised areas between Streatham Hill and Streatham Common, in order to tackle the common problems of stains and ground-in chewing gum. However, this is not all that is in store for Streatham. There are also plans to put up our own ‘inStreatham’ banners, reopen the public toilets and smarten the appearance of shop fronts. Furthermore, there is the GLA-funded ‘Streatham Skyline’ scheme, which aims to install new lighting across the town centre.  The area between Babington Road and Mitcham Lane will also soon become known as ‘Babington Piazza’ as its conversion into a civic space is almost complete.
