ULEZ Expansion and the scrappage scheme

TfL is expanding the Ultra Low Emission Zone (ULEZ) across all London boroughs from 29 August 2023.

If you drive anywhere within the ULEZ, including the expanded area from 29 August 2023, and your vehicle does not meet the emissions standards, you could face a daily charge of £12.50. Some older, more polluting cars and vans may not be compliant in the expanded ULEZ area. Check your vehicle here

The Mayor introduced a £110m scrappage scheme to help microbusinesses (10 or fewer staff), small businesses (under 50 employees) and registered charities to scrap any non-compliant vans or retrofit a van or minibus and get an increased grant payment. Eligibility criteria here

The Mayor has also listened to businesses and has announced that the scrappage payment for vans will increase from £5,000 to £7,000. Small businesses and sole traders will be able to scrap three vans or minibuses in addition to increasing retrofit payments from £5,000 to £6,000.

Additional support will also be available to charities with increased payments available for minibuses from £7,000 to £9,000, and disabled Londoners will see wheelchair adapted vehicle grants double. More information here.

There are also a variety of support offers available to all Londoners that could help save money and use greener forms of transport.
